Chris-ChesterShame as we were considering it and were holding out to see what else there is (not allowed to order before December). Also the new Motability search, looks good at first impression but really cumbersome to navigate, far too many clicks to get to where you want to and for them “Performance” means Engine Size and Horsepower… Get your act together and bring on more cars or you will lose more customers the way you go!!!

It’s still there. But to find it within the new search system takes a bit of time:

RogerWilkoYes, looks like a fault of the search engine, againā¦
if, on the page āsearch for a carā and filter on VW then the id5 is missing.
if yiu search not on make but electric power then it comes up.
I donāt expect id5 to stay for too long, I think itās only on to generate sales and get the car seen in the road before removal however.
March 22, 2023 at 8:57 am #215997if, on the page āsearch for a carā and filter on VW then the id5 is missing.
It is there, only on the second page.

RogerWilkoI think a little confusion.
if you go to main page and click on the yellow āsearch for a carā
then in next page explore our cars if you filter on make to Volkswagen, then open the filter then open the model filter, the id5 is missing from tgat drop-down lust.
im assuming the update if the search engine in this page may have accidentally missed off?
in fact if you click on fuel and filter on electric, it shows zero electric cars for very.
At least the main car lust is correct lol
March 22, 2023 at 12:04 pm #216029I see, yes it is missing from the list of vehicles. Teething issues I’m sure.
March 22, 2023 at 9:14 pm #216117Canāt imagine there will be many takers at that price. Almost Ā£19k total outlay over 3 years.

MaccaGotta say those AP’s on the VW ID and the Nissan Ariya EV’s, are just plain rediculous, and simply out of the question for many customers.

RogerWilkoI see the āno one will pay these lease prices and ridiculous APā comments are out again.
to be clear, PIP us not means tested and many on PIP work. There seems to be this fallacy tgat prices shoujd be very low because all pip claimants are poor or in other benefits.
To lease the id5 pro at 15,000 miles per annum outside Motability is £5,658, plus £251 admin fee, no maintenance, no tyre replacements, no insurance, plus 48 months at £628.69 (figures from select car leasing)
so, as you can see, Motability is a great deal compared to other leasing companies
If they are available in October when I can change my car, I will be looking at the id5, the Ariya and the Enyaq, I have the AP plus options miney in an account, built up over the three years of current car ownership. So, yes, PIP claimants may want these cars and may want to spend that money, as itās a saving over other leasing companies.
PIP claimants are a broad church, and yes, some canāt afford high APs and can only afford the lower ap cars or need a grant, but that doesnāt mean everyone is in the same position and if they choose to spend their money the way they want to.

MaccaMy view is, if its a car you want and can fund it, then fill yer boots.
It’s just not for me personally at that level.

JamesI donāt think at Ā£7000 ap itās a matter of can someone afford it but more does this offer good value, MB should always be better value thereās no other leasing company that would get deals and VAT reductions
The ID5 will have a strong residual and more than likely have a great profit margin at lease end so it does make you wonder if this is greed!
A few years back when the Q3 was on a dealer said that MB was selling them at lease end for more than they paid and thatās not including the pip theyāve had
March 23, 2023 at 7:26 pm #216256We all know Motability are greedy. You only have to look at the profits they make to see that.

BertyReally need the actual dimensions of the vehicle.
That is the first consideration – will it fit in the drive or garage.
I guess its back to clarity…
March 24, 2023 at 10:58 pm #216384@RogerWilko There are plenty of us on this forum who are happy to pay big APs if itās a car that we really want. The problem that we have now is that very high APs are being asked for very mediocre cars. I paid an AP of Ā£2,250 for a Ā£41k BMW. I was OK with that as, even with the sacrificed benefits added, it worked out cheaper than buying the same car new privately. Equally, I would happily pay an AP of say Ā£15,000 for a BMW X5, as that would still be cheaper than funding a new one privately!
As @James says, with the VAT exemption and negotiating power that Motability Operations have, it would be odd if a private lease worked out cheaper (although itās worth noting that very few Motability customers do 15k miles a year). However, taking your point that not all PIP recipients are short of cash, if you are in a position to buy, rather than lease, then it is perfectly possible to run a new car privately for less money than the total outlay through Motability. I have done it myself previously and, if the current choice (and high APs) doesnāt improve markedly over the next 12 months, Iām likely to do it again.
March 24, 2023 at 11:59 pm #216387The id5 works out at Ā£18,076 over 3yrs taking into account Aprils 10.1% increase and not further increases. For me Ā£2k AP plus monthly payments is too much to spend when I’m not going to get anything in return after 3years.
I wouldn’t lease off the scheme, favouring privately buying a new or nearly new vehicle. Even if I only wanted to pay Ā£18k for a new car and kept it 3yrs. I’d get at least half the price back at worst depreciation and taking into account insurance, a service and MOT. Of caurse you got to have the finances to do so.
What doesn’t help in my case is the fact, its becoming harder to find a car that suits my needs onĀ the and how cross overs and small SUV’s are classed as large vehicles.
