I20 Bumper Issues

      Hi all,

Ive had a “metallic” black 2025 Hyundai i20 on the scheme since early April this year, and I can successfully say that it’s been an absolute nightmare. Talk about “worry free motoring”
Ive had gearbox troubles, handbrake failure, and a vast amount of rattles and squeaks in under 3000 miles. But the worst problem was scratches on the rear of the vehicle that were there on collection that the dealer said they would sort out. Which they did, but the polish or T-Cut that they used was so strong it’s eaten through the top section of the rear bumper, and left a nasty grey tinge to the whole panel as well as showing the hexagonal plastic mesh underneath under bright sunlight.
I was told by the salesman that they would sort it, but it keeps coming back and getting worse to the point where it’s an eyesore to behold.
Anyone got any advice on what to do?
I’ve emailed the salesman in question and copied the general manager and customer experience manager into it, but I’ve had no reply since Thursday. In the email I’ve told them that I’d like them to sort it out finally otherwise I’ll be dragging Motability Customer Services into the mix to get the car rejected on the grounds that they can’t fix what’s wrong with the bumper. A replacement bumper is probably in order but at no point have they even offered for that to be done.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I’d certainly be informing Motability, especially if you still have gearbox, handbrake issues and rattles, requesting termination on mechanical grounds.

If those are now sorted and it’s just the bumper, I’d still inform Motability, as they will get it soted alot quicker than you.

Write everything down prior to contacting them and go from your list everything that has been wrong with the car, whats still wrong with it and what you want from Motabilty perspective, an mechanical termination or it repaired.

Thanks for you reply and advice

It’s just come back from the dealer today after 48 hours just slightly shinier than it was before. I’ve been told they won’t do a respray because it’ll be “too noticeable” and that’s why they won’t fit a new bumper either apparently. They’ve tightened my handbrake but it still rattles so I need to empty everything in it so I can pinpoint where it’s coming from ready to call Motability as of Monday morning.

Thats a classic example of BS mate!

Mention everything to Motability on Monday including the number times it’s been back and you have now lost all confidence in the car.

            Hope all goes well!
