How many of each car are actually sold?

Motability has currently 650,000 customers so your looking at over 200,000 each year

Ford claim on their website that they supply 37,000 cars each year so I’m really curious as to the breakdown of the rest of the numbers?

Do Motability release how many of each cars are actually leased?

Are there cars that nobody ever leases?

Is there a car that only 1 person has?

Just curious and wondering if the info is out there?

        650,000 times say £20,000 is £13,000,000,000

If the government scrapped disability payments overnight that would be one helluva debt for Motability, maybe that’s why they have a huge reserve.

Unless we all got Dacia’s and it would be more like £13.20

noel, thats a very good question and one i would be interested in seeing the answer. i think it would be very interesting to see what we all go for. i wonder if we requested it they would reply. so long as we werent asking for private info there wouldnt be any privacy issues i wouldnt have thought. a straight forward breakdown by model and manufacturer shouldnt fall foul of any laws i wouldnt have thought.

Not sure where I read it and I think it was 2015 to 2017 that the nissan qashqai was motability most popular car.

I know it’s not what you asked but may be of interest. the lastest figures from Motability:

112,376 scheme cars registered so far in 2019

19,793 scheme cars registered June 2019

8.86% of uk registered cars were scheme cars in June 2019

not sure how to go about getting most popular cars on scheme, maybe @WMCForum knows some source ?

lots of info of all kinds of car sales and figures can be found at SMMT car sales I can’t remember what it stands for but they cover private fleet and business figures. I’ll try and find the info in a bit, I too am in need of a top up.

                      edit:

hillman imp ! now thats a blast from the past lol, that was my first car i learnt to drive in, in germany on an army base cost dmarks 800 and the were 4 marks to the pound. had a loose battery connection and every now and then would just die. had it for 2 years until i got promoted and could afford to get a duty free golf c brand new on hp. loved that car was brilliant even when we had 2ft of snow.

Maybe a freedom of information request to Motability would give definitive answers?

                              I thought that too Joss

but then I thought to do so would probably result in having to approach every manufacturer as to regards to individual models, as one would think Motability would only record actual overall numbers per manufacturer rather than variants.

Interesting to see June figures were 8.86% of registered cars were Motability compared to 10.34% in May. I wonder if that reflex great private deals at present or less Motability sales. I know the answer to that is in the SMMT link I put above but I try to stay off it as it’s addictive and I’ve lost to many hours researching Nothing lol
