Woke this morning and it was bloody cold so, for the first time since April, the heating is on. I’ve turned the radiator temperature down, at the boiler, to 40*C  so not using too much gas but technically it’s still summer and normally my heating is off till mid September.

I’ll opt for dressing gown if I feel chilly this ime of year.

Fleece hoodie on a few nights in the last week before bedtime.

Problem is, if I lie down to watch TV my cat is straight up and snuggles right into my armpit so she can lie on the hoodie! she loves it 🙂

Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!

It’s amazing how the boiler, even at 40*C, heats up the house and I would imagine using a very small amount of gas.

Nope, October before ours is going on!  Weather has been appalling, the only prolonged bit of sun we’ve had this year was the heatwave mid June, when we were lucky enough to be in Cornwall.

Not even close to being cold enough for us to consider putting the heating on here in Surrey.

By far the biggest issue for me is at the other end of the spectrum namely excessive heat.

Scorching temperatures in warm spells turn our flat into a furnace.

With 2 big ecoair fans (£150 each) going full blast and with windows open temps of 40 degrees have not been uncommon for us.

In desperation i recently purchased a MEACO 7000 portable aircon (£300 from amazon) and it has really helped to cool our flat down . . . but its expensive to run, approx 75p per hour meaning we limit ourselves to short bursts of 15 mins or so.

As good as the meaco 7000 is at cooling our flat, within 30 mins of switching it off the temperature in our flat is back to 40 degrees!

Bottom line for me is that 15 mins sitting in front of a relatively powerful jet of freezing cold air blasting towards me when room temperatures are verging on unbearable really really REALLY is a game-changer.
