Good morning.
For a while I have been in the house, so yesterday we went for the obligatory old persons Sunday drive. Sometimes it is nice just to get out for no reason. Went to the sea near Kirkcudbright and then into the hills near Gatehouse of Fleet. The red kites were out in force and the wind and rain was never very far away, painting the sky every shade of grey you can imagine.
Anyone else just get out there for no reason?!

ajnGood Morning DumfriesDik..
Totally guilty of the above, even if just sitting in the car, your description sounds heaven(not a red kite but)?????⛈

HuffpuffinHave many happy childhood memories spent holidaying around that neck of the woods in the 70’s. In the 90’s my parents lived near Kirkbean, and I used to take my kids there every summer!

January 10, 2022 at 9:32 am #174016January 10, 2022 at 9:36 am #174018A drive into the forest with a coffee and sandwich and a book. Sometimes for a change a drive to the sea.
January 10, 2022 at 9:43 am #174021I was up at 4.30am, read a book for a bit, then sorted my study with a top to bottom clean-up. Finished that and set about my bedroom too – everything except hoover as didn’t want to wake the household. Fed the dogs, made breakfast & woke wife at 7am so she could get ready for her work.
Pre-heated the Soul EV at 8am and set off nice and toasty to take her and her guide dog to work, a 30 mile round trip down the A90 and back. Sun was just painting the sky pink as I left her at work.
Now sitting in my newly cleaned study and working from home – well, until I clicked on the forum!
Washing machine now on its second load of the day, rooms hoovered – this working from home malarkey certainly lets me get a lot done with the removal of my hour each way commute.

I went to Gretna Gateway yesterday. It is now Caledonia Park. It is being refurbished but still no roof and yes, the wind still whistles up the middle.

January 11, 2022 at 9:02 am #174147I say, Abercol… You’ve been a bit lax there – no dusting done and what about the ironing? Come on – get your act together! ?
January 11, 2022 at 10:04 am #174154No need, Tharg!
Blind wife does the ironing – something I never liked doing but she does.
Our cleaner arrives Wednesday morning – she does all the dusting & cleaning/hoover of lounge, family room, hallways, stairs (3 sets) kitchen, bathrooms, wife’s bedroom, wife’s study & the entrance room. She’s very hard working and does the lot in 3 hours or so (takes me lots longer than that).
Its her first week back after xmas, but things are not too bad as we use a robot vacuum to keep things ticking over and I tend to give the kitchen worktops etc a good clean when cleaning up after dinner & have a go at the bathrooms etc if the cleaner has a week or two off.
She does not do my room, my study or the spare bedrooms, so they fall to me.

try not to take it too early so it still has some effect when physio starts at 9.
January 13, 2022 at 5:57 am #174319Nice one @mitch, we have a bread maker which doesn’t get used so much these days being diabetic. Makes the house smell like a home.
Physio at 9? Thats early but enjoy!
