KarenReceived my £600 GCB from Motability today as Peugeot 3008 SUV lease is ended (Volvo XC40 on order). Thought they had to wait until the car was inspected? It has a few minor scrapes & a wee bump on front number plate. Think I’ll wait before cashing the cheque!

No need to wait, it’s yours! I’d cash it in. The rest you have mentioned is part of wear and tear. Did you receive your cheque before or after handing the vehicle and how long did it take to receive it? I am due to hand my vehicle back next week.

ianthey gave you £600 without even looking at the car? just because you had ordered a new car which was over 4 years old. I thought that when you collected your new car this was inspected, you then received a cheques or not depending on the condition of the vehicle you gave back.

November 4, 2020 at 10:31 pm #128648Photos were taken at last service and MOT (August 20) and sent to Motability by the garage. On handover day to the new car, last month, further photos were taken, inside and out, and sent to Motability whilst we were waiting. Nice cheque arrived 3 days later. Someone was on the ball, and we are not at all complaining!

AnonymousHi,
I just received by bonus too. Lease extended for two years.
I was under the impression the GCB went up after the 4th and 5th year. If they are paying out now, does this mean this is no longer the case?
November 5, 2020 at 1:22 pm #128689As I understand it, you can also receive a £300 additional bonus at the end of your two year extension, subject to the vehicle being in good condition

IanWe extended our lease in March. Got nothing. Should we have got £600?. And another £300 if we kept it for the full 5 years? Or do they pay out the full £900.

Ian,
If you extended the lease before the first Covid-19 lockdown (pre-April) you will get your GCB when you return the vehicle at the end of 5 years – (£900 for a 5 year lease).
If you extended once the first lockdown kicked in (or have had your lease extended due to lockdown/covid-19) you receive the GCB (£600) at the time the vehicle should normally have been returned (the three year point).
Or, if you are in financial need, you can ask for the £600 GCB anytime upto 31st January 2021. If you extended to 5 years, the remaining £300 would be paid at lease end.
It was expained in the Motability Covid-19 FAQ’s but has been amended as time has moved on:
