DitchJust filled car up and price of fuel has gone up by 4p a litre to £1.49.9 in 3days. Is this the fuel company’s trying to recoup when petrol prices fell to 0.99p per litre during lockdown? Its getting ridiculous now! ?

143.9 here today in Sainsbury’s, up by 2p since last week.
While world economies are tanking and the price of gold is going through the roof, it’s safe to assume the price of fuel will get higher as will the price of everything else.
The world’s major currencies have been printing money out of nothing for the past five years – it’s now payback time….
November 11, 2021 at 5:56 pm #168867I’m guessing these oil rich countries and producers are “making hay while the sun is shining” as when EV’s take off their income is going to nose dive drastically!
November 11, 2021 at 6:50 pm #168875No reason for prices to nosedive. There’s always a need for oil, and the producers control the price. Produce half as much, charge twice as much.
November 12, 2021 at 2:45 am #168891Does anyone know why there is a shortage of Walkers Crisp’s.
Is it the farmers fault, not really…….cant see a shortage of spuds in the supermarkets.
£1.70 per six pack in Sainsburys currently.
Maybe its a perfect opportunity for Walkers to increase the price to £2.50.
Oh and derv is currently 147.9 at ASDA in Sheffield.
November 12, 2021 at 3:49 am #168892Allegedly an IT problem. Not sure how that works, but alas.

Even my local Tesco is 149.9. Shameful!

Oil prices are like most things dictated by demand! little demand equals low prices as we saw with fuel prices at the begining of Covid where petrol was as low as 98p a litre.
My point was that oil demand will eventually fall as more EV’s are introduced so as you rightly said oil cartels like OPEC control oil output in order to control prices and that is what we are seeing now.
A great number of manufacturers and suppliers are restricting supply of components, “Crisps”, oil, cars, etc, etc so as to create artificial demand in order to increase prices, of which are providing record profits as BMW have recently announced! I have no doubt that ‘Walkers Crisps’ will increase in price and the multi buy offers will cease in the supermarkets, more so as demand goes through the roof leading up to the christmas period.

sifCrisps shortage has nothing to do with artificial restriction of supply and all to do with Brexit. Crisps are bulky, drivers are few, we can’t recruit from europe and there are more valuable things to shift than crisps.

What absolute nonsense. This has absolutely nothing to do with Brexit and nor do we need to recruit drivers from Europe. What we need is the DVLA strike to be concluded and the 50,000 plus licence applications they’re currently sitting on to be actioned.
However, with regard to the issue of crisps, a simple google will tell you that the shortage of Walkers crisps is primarily due to an IT issue. Nothing to do with drivers or Brexit!

Helpful ElfPutting your head in the sand and pretending that Brexit was not a screwup of monumental proportions is as stupid as blaming everything for it.
Meanwhile, our crumbling justice system, crumbling health service and incompetent government aren’t the fault of brexit at all, but brexit sure puts more strain on the old horses 🙂
November 19, 2021 at 12:27 pm #169528although much dearer i tried a couple of gallons of e5 in my car. it already had a bit less than half a tank in it. i got about 5 mpg more and response was better too. whether it was economic im not sure but it did prove that the e10 is piss

We have a petrol station in our village and I only fill up there in emergencies as it’s usually expensive. When our travels take us past Asda or Costco I fill up there. I filled up petrol at Asda this week at 145.9 and when I got home I noticed that in my village it was 143.9 ?
November 19, 2021 at 9:26 pm #169575We topped up four days ago at £1.40.
Not gonna lie, if this doesn’t reel in fast, petrol/diesel dies quicker than 2035.
