Got the Puma with that engine.
        Acceleration is decent

mpg 36.5 for purely town work (in heavy traffic mostly)

        mpg 62  on 50/60 mph A roads

mpg 58 on Motorway 70/75 mph

It’s a heavy old car though so you might possibly get a little better fuel economy rate in the Focus.

Sorry forgot to add, only had it for less than 2 months so those figures will hopefully improve as I did expect to get at least 40mpg around town.

              <p style=”text-align: left;”>I’ve got a 155 Focus Active Vignale.</p>
Plenty of torque with the electric boost.  Even coming from a diesel.  (Previously had a 125ps non-MHEV…only had it a week, too flat and torqueless after years of diesels!)

I only do local driving nowadays, no long trips or fast roads.  Averaged 45mpg.  Same drives my 2.0 TDI Golf does 55mpg.  Also previously had 1.6 TDCI Focus averaging around 55mpg for comparison.

This latest generation of EcoBoost is less refined than the original.  Cam chain rattles a bit and the injectors are quite loud.  Ford have also done away with the engine cover to cut costs, and that does mean you can hear the engine quite prominently while cruising.  Of course, if you boot it, you get an interesting mixture of 3 pot thrum, turbo whistle and motor whine which is a bit of a novelty.

Thanks for that lux looks, could you please tell me is the clutch light? Not heavy? As tempted to go manual after years of auto driving….

The clutch is definitely lighter than the diesel clutches that I’ve been used to.

It’s not as light as some of the small city cars such as the Citroen C1 though.

i certainly wouldn’t deliberately go back to a manual personally. autos are so good now that they are hard to beat. of course evs have no gearing at all, as really have cvt types, which have improved greatly.

i love the one pedal kona; rarely have to touch brakes
