Some of you may have spotted the arrival of this . 200 mile range. Good height and boot. Really good specs available but I don’t think electric seats??? Can anyone clarify.  Weirdly it looks as though you can have electric seats with other engine.

Also currently doing 15000 a year in an Astra Elite petrol at 45mpg which had a £500 AP. Luckily I can home charge overnight but given I  would go for a high spec I am trying to work out at what point I  would be better off with this particular car over my current car. My best guess is  about 20 months into a 36 month Motability lease. I probably need to order a new car around May 2020 so there may be more choice by then. I think 200 mile range is my minimum requirement.

Really interested in views. Thanks in advance.

ive added it to my shortlist alomg with the bmw i3 as its about the same ap and range real world 160ish.

thats enough for me and the base model of each is fine for me.electric seats arent a deal breaker.

            Hi,

I have ordered the i3. It’s quicker than the DS3.

            I drive around 18000 miles a year.

I am going to change my electricity supplier to British Gas. I will charge the car between midnight and 5am at a cost of 4.70 pence per Kw. The i3 is a 42Kw battery which will easily drive more than 140 miles on a full charge. My daily drive is around trip of about 60 miles. So I will just charge at home each day. So I think I will require 25 Kw of charge each day at a cost of 4.70 pence per Kw.

so let’s say 5 pence x 20kw = £1.00 to travel 60 miles! – and if your maths is better than mine, you will know that it will be even cheaper than this!

            No more petrol stations!

I am sure you will save thousands of pounds over the 3 year lease period whichever electric car you decide to drive.

menorca mike, no its still on the list as is the countryman it will depend on finances at handover time the juke and countryman are the 0 ap options.also the tekna+ auto and premiere auto arent on the scheme yet so its fingers crossed they will come on in the new year.

then it will be down to test drives, ive eliminated the bmw x’s and the mercs so iam down to 4 now, the ds is an outsider due to dealer location. mini/bmw and nissan are local.

                  ZapMap have a handy calculator – https://www.zap-map.com/tools/journey-cost-calculator/

I compared the DS3 electric with my current Alhambra over a year & it came to a saving of around £1200 even with my electricity at 14.9 pence per kW.

I did these sort of calculations some time back & have been keeping an eye on electric cars ever since, the simple equation is that it must save enough over a petrol or diesel to fund the extra AP.

I have switched to octopus energy loads cheaper than my previous supplier and only 5 pence a kWh off peak, in theory it could cut you energy cost a further £800 down to £400

Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.

The DS3 has a pretty pathetic power output, I was expecting far more.

Might have to take a look at one of these DS3s, seats are always a big problem for me, not them being electric or manual, just whether they are comfortable enough after all the spinal surgery & damage.

Citroen C4 Grand Picasso I had 2014-2017 had almost comfortable seats, a little more comfy than the Alhambra I currently have. Done many hundreds of miles in a day in both of these cars.

Most comfy seats I’ve had were pre major spinal injuries, the Ford Cortina Mk1 with its sprung seats, & the Peugeot 405 with the confiest car seats I’ve ever known.

Least comfy were Mini (we’re talking 70s Mini here where the seats were uncomfortable but safer than sitting on the floor which rusted through), Ford Escort (1988 era), a Ford Mondeo I had as a hire car in the mid 1990s, and a Toyota RAV4 which crippled me after 20 miles (post spinal injuries).
