      FOR YOUR INFORMATION

From 17 August, all renewal letters for customers will highlight that Drive Smart is coming soon.
Drive Smart is a new product encouraging safer, more mindful driving. If there’s a driver that’s under 30 years old on a customer’s insurance all drivers will need to use Drive Smart.
A small device, linked to the Drive Smart app on the driver’s smartphone, will sit in the vehicle’s windscreen. The device records driving behaviour, including speed and smoothness as well as care when driving at night and on longer journeys. All drivers can review their driving behaviour on the app.
Customers can use the app to monitor the overall driving score for the Scheme vehicle. Customers will earn points for their drivers’ safe driving and can exchange them for reward vouchers. They can earn up to £160 per year in vouchers which can be spent with brands such as Amazon and M&S.
Why are we launching Drive Smart?
Safe driving means fewer accidents, and can help to reduce carbon emissions
Drive Smart gives feedback to drivers, educating them in safer, and more mindful driving styles
Safe driving helps us to manage insurance costs
The Drive Smart technology is used widely in retail to reduce insurance costs
How are we launching Drive Smart?
We’ll be launching Drive Smart soon and will be in touch with eligible customers. More information will follow later this year, including how and when this will become part of the application flow.
How will customers join Drive Smart?
We’ll send a welcome email to customers who need to join Drive Smart
We’ll then send the Drive Smart device via tracked post
We’ll send another email explaining what to do when the device arrives – the customer will then have 10 days to activate the device, download the app and add their drivers
They’ll receive SMS reminders if they do not activate it within that time
