Do you need a car?

Obviously, in the middle of a pandemic, many would say “maybe” but cast your mind back to 2019 when live was “normal”.

How many could say “yes I could do without my own car”?

Green Peace, and others, are encouraging us to use public transport, walk and use bikes but for many disabled that is not an option.

So what, if anything would need to change for you to give up your car?

i think like most people public transport would need to improve hugely.here its a mile to the nearest bus stop and its one bus an hour or less and it only goes to chesterfield basically. if you want to go anywhere else youve to go into chesterfield and then get a bus out to where you want to go.

a 15 minute car drive to a hosp or doctors appointment becomes an hour and a half by bus.

in fact the doctors surgery isnt on a bus route so would have to be by taxi.

greenpeace need to live in the real world for a change.

          What would need to change?

          1. Complete re-bore and retro-fit of my backbone and legs which do not support the walking function at the moment.

          2. Complete cure for heart arrhythmia which would kick off dangerously when trying to cope with aggressive nasty behaviour of other users of public transport.

3, Complete redesign of bicycle. At present, I cannot even get on a cycle, let alone operate pedals or any other method of propelling it. Also would experience immense problem trying to balance the thing. Solution would call for four wheels, mechanised electric or ICE propulsion and a proper, easy to enter seat. Oh yes, I think it would be called something like “motor car.”

i often think i could save money by returning my car,  save on monthly payments and fuel cost .

but  would i save money  because bus service is bad the bus stop is so far away if i was to go shopping to the asda/tesco theres no way i could carry shopping on a bus so i would need to get a taxi which would use up my pip money

i think i worked it out before it costs me about £4/£5 to use so much cheaper than a taxi and if i get an EV it would be cheaper again
