From the 6th April DLA/PIP rates will increase to £62.25 for High Mobility and to £89.15 for High Care.

This is an increase from £61.20 and £87.65, an increase of 1.7%

Since 2010 the figure used to calculate the increase is the September CPI (Consumer Price Index), an inflation calculation historically lower than the RPI, Retail Price Index that was previously used.

With the cost of a new car 12.3% higher than three years ago this is more pressure on Motability.

And for the veterans amongst us, the following increase will apply from 6th April 2020:

AFIP – £61.20 to £62.25 per week

WPMS – £68.35 to £69.50 per week

Thanks @bigdave, I did try to find the veterans increases but I did not have the correct clearance. Ha ha.
Do you know, out of interest, how the increase is calculated is it the same 1.7% for DLA/PIP?

Hi WMC,

Yes, it is calculated exactly the same way – CPI from the previous September, so 1.7% this year.

I can’t say I’ve had the brown envelop for PIP increase yet but I’ve had one for my pension and boy does that send a shiver down my spine when I see a DWP envelop on the door mat. ?

because of inflation everything goes up every April We all know that , but everything we buy goes up way above inflation  yet any income we get  pension wages benefit goes up usually by a few pence .

Carers Allowance is going up to £66.15    you needed to look after the person 35 hours a week that £1.89 a hour as a carer

Gas /Electricity Scottish Power is putting their prices up in april  last year they made a profit of £8.1bn and they are still putting their prices up. Yet there are  people struggling,  and not putting heating on because they cant afford to pay it it ether heating or food.
