Dehumidifier For Clothes Drying

I read an article recently that said using a dehumidifier to dry clothes was a lot cheaper than a dryer. We have a small 180w dehumidifier, so I tried it. It really does work, costs around 6/7p an hour to run. I filled a clothes airer in the spare room and left it on for 3 hours. It took almost a pint of water out of the air and the clothes were dry the next day. I tried the airer last week without the dehumidifier and the clothes were still damp after 2 days.

Yup, we run a dehumidifier for a couple of hours in the mornings during winter. Drier air is easier to heat. Apparently. And yes, use it for drying the washing sometimes, but we still use the tumbler ?
