<p style=”text-align: left;”>Hey, getting my Corsa-e Nav Premium around April but thought I’d get a dash cam whilst I wait. I’ve purchased the NextBase 622GW.</p>
Im pretty useless so will get Halfords to install it but I’m wondering if there are any difficulties installing a dash cam in an EV?

Will the 12v be taking the power from the cars battery or is there a separate battery for 12v?

I don’t really know what I’m on about but any advice would be much appreciated.

Ask on a Corsa-e forum as well as here.

Does the vehicle have a 12 volt outlet at the front?

Call Halfords and check they will fit a dash cam that they haven’t supplied. Or did you buy it from them?

Find an auto electrician and ask if they can do the job.

Trouble with electric cars, they have the 12 volt system and also a 400 volt system. Whilst you wouldn’t want to put your tongue on either, one has a bit more bang than the other.

Don’t forget Motability do not allow hardwiring on their cars……..

Regarding hardwired dash cams, motability allow it if  installed pre collection by dealer. When my dealer called to say car had been delivered to them awaiting PDI check I asked them to instal dashcam from their accessories brochure. So on collecting car the dashcam had been installed. Surprisingly dashcam was same price as retailers and charged £30 installation fee and that includes hardwire kit and sdcard. Plus any wiring  or loose trim issues fall back on dealer. Downsides are you are limited to which dashcams are offered by your dealer

Halfords just told me they won’t fit my NextBase dash cam I bought from eBay which is brand new. Only if bought from Halfords will they for it. And even then…
