Is anyone aware if the cupra born is expected to return in either Q3 or Q4 as I’ve been waiting to order one, once I reach the 30/07/2025. Current lease ends on the 31/10/2025 .
Also had considered a Renault Megan but that has left as well . Typical . - CreatorTopic

Unless things changed, you don’t have to return your vehicle on 31/10 if on 30/10 you placed an order for a new one. It doesn’t matter how long it will take to deliver. So in theory you have plenty of time to see if the vehicle you want is back on the scheme. I will struggle to believe anyone can tell you with a level of confidence above 50% if Born will return. I would assume same as Skoda Elroq, once supply issues will be addressed there are chances it will be back.

Motability VW Touran Family Pack May 2019 (happy customer)July 11, 2025 at 4:52 pm #309433It’s been around for a good while, I can’t see that Cupra have suddenly fallen out with Motability so there’s only 2 thoughts I can muster. Either it’s due a facelift and they’re swapping production to the new model or they’re catching up with orders, like the Elroq, and when they’ve caught up it’ll be back.
I would sift through the alternatives though, as a back up plan. Also, it’s worth noting that a 3 month extension isn’t impossible. I’m sure others know better than I do but they’re still likely to allow a short extension if you’re struggling to find a suitable new car. That gives you around 6 months to order the Borne once it returns.

July 11, 2025 at 5:23 pm #309435Unrelated to the topic as a whole, but why do Cupra not say what kind it is on the back?
Whether it’s Born, or Terramare (something like that) and whatever the other ones are called. When browsing the list on Scheme the pictures are unreliable for sizes, so rather than drag everyone to a dealership on a whim and a prayer I like to have a little shufty while I’m out and about on foot to size them up. Cupra never tells me what they are though, very frustrating.
Anyway, rant over lol thanks for listening
July 11, 2025 at 8:58 pm #309442It appears that there is an issue with parts and build times so it looks like this will not be coming back onto the scheme soon . So it looks like a new search will be required any ideas would be appreciated .

what are your requirements from the car? What’s your AP budget etc.? So many variables there.

I thought there is no Elroq on the scheme this quarter?

There isn’t (but might come back next quarter), and having test driven all three, depending on why you’re looking at the Born, neither of them comes even close to a substitute.
If you’re looking at a car that is somewhat comparable in terms of “driving experience”, the Ford Explorer (also on the MEB platform) comes the closest with a comparatively firm suspension setup (softer than Born, but much less body-roll compared to Elroq/ID3).
We recently test drove the Explorer, and were pleasantly surprised. Yeah, the interior isn’t on the level of BMWs etc, but neither is the Borns, so.. Potatoes, potatoes. If the reason for the Cupra Born is dynamics, unless you want to pay the money VW is asking for the GTE currently, then definitely give the Explorer a test drive.

@Rene, I think the Explorer is a class and size up from the Born isn’t it?Skoda Enyaq Race Blue

So is the Elroq 😉
The Explorer is 2cm shorter than the Elroq (although i will say, it looks bigger due to the bully-ish stance it has, as well as the quite high bonnet). That being said, both of them are 13cm (15 for the Elroq) longer than the Born. Doesn’t feel like it though, i’ll be honest.
But, yeah, i only brought it up because you mentioned the Elroq – basically the sister car to the Explorer. Either are great cars, it’s just that the Explorer is considerably more dynamic to drive (which i thought was a consideration, considering the Born is a “luke-warm EV”).

If you occasionally (or not) use a wheelchair, or crutches, or have a mid sized dog, will Born or its competitors suit your needs? If you drive long distances, is the seating position comfortable?

Motability VW Touran Family Pack May 2019 (happy customer)July 12, 2025 at 1:09 pm #309457Thank you all for your advice . Ive been to look at the Alfa Romeo Junior this morning and plan to look at the ford explorer, and capri in the next week. I actually came across a Leapmotor C10 today which is a nice looking motor but not on the scheme . I’ve plenty of time to sort out my favourites to test drive before I need to change my Honda HRV hybrid . The Honda is a nice car but the over revving engine is now starting to annoy me a little .
July 12, 2025 at 1:19 pm #309458The Explorer and Capri are both effectively the same car in a different body, from a Born, they’ll both feel huge. I wouldn’t say either felt sporty to sit in but both have enough power to have a little fun. I’d think about the Capri if you can deal with the whole name thing. I just wish they’d dropped the Mach E alongside the other two, that would be a fantastic choice, I’m just not sure if it’s ever worth dropping over £4K on a lease.

I have a Born, and they are for some strange reason on the rear light just to the side, I have circled on the attached photo, not in an obvious place like most cars.
