The 3 Series is actually £8k, but it is the 330e M-Sport though ? I don’t mind paying a high AP for a high end model. Makes a change from high APs for entry level engines and trims.
January 1, 2024 at 10:53 am #252893Would anyone go for the 330e m sport over the i4?? It’s got me wondering now

I would without hesitation. No range issues, much less charging and no issues having to plan unwanted stops on longer journeys. You can also get the touring model, which is far more practical. But that’s just me. I appreciate that most forum members want EVs.

Definately as you get the best of both worlds – electric locallaly and no worries on range over long journeys!
I’m in discussions with the boss as we speak, on whether we want to spend 8k on a scheme car and whether longterm it would be suitable for our disabled daughter.

Agree. Would be much more bearable if you could guarantee being allowed to extend to 5-years again.

I get where you are coming from, but it’s important not to look at the AP in isolation as it’s only one part of the equation, and not the biggest part. Somebody getting a £20k runabout with nil AP on the scheme is paying £12k and handing it back after 3 years. Thats 60% of the price of buying the car (more once you factor in the discount you could negotiate). To me, that’s not sensible, yet thousands do so happily.
When you start getting to say £50k cars, you still sacrifice exactly the same £12k. Add say an £8k AP and you are paying £20k. That’s 40% of the price of the car, so a far better deal. I appreciate that many people can’t afford an £8k AP, but if you can and want a high end car, this makes far more sense economically than the cheaper cars on the scheme.
Undoubtedly, the best value cars on the scheme, by far, are the high end EVs, but not everyone wants one or would find it a viable solution, so although it’s a PHEV (and I’d prefer a straight petrol), the 330e is a very welcome addition to the scheme, especially as it’s the Touring model and in desirable M-Sport trim.
January 1, 2024 at 5:49 pm #253018Our current car is an Allspace, I think that’s a £50k car which we paid well under £2k for IIRC.
I just see super high AP’s as a waste tbh, unless a specific vehicle is needed.
