    Which Mobility Car

New C4 added to Scheme today. Electric car available too from £1495 AP which seems competitive.

On the price guide it’s saying the 1.2 is diesel surely it’s petrol ? Good prices looks good and is it the 8 speed BMW automatic gearbox ?

The Search has listed all the new C4 as Diesel, the 1.2 is a petrol, the 1.5 is a diesel and the 100kw is full electric.

The Automatic gearbox in the petrol and diesel is the EAT8 “Efficient Automatic Transmission” made under license from Aisin in France I believe. It is the same gearbox, the AWF8F35, used widely across smaller BMW’s and Mini.

              Mike,

The PSA group 8 speed automatics are developed by Aisin Seiki, a huge gearbox maker owned by Toyota. PSA negotiated the manufacture of the gearboxes in France (and/or Spain) using Aisin supplied tooling.

BMW gearboxes are supplied by ZF Friedrichshafen, the 8HP is one of the best, but some others are not quite so good.

Be aware however that most BMW’s available on the scheme use a dual clutch gearbox supplied by Getrag (same as Ford, Volvo, Renault, MB). You may hear that these gearboxes are from Magna, but that’s because Magna bought Getrag..phew..

In life, it's not who you know that's important, it's how your wife found out.

No Shine Plus which is disappointing… You need to spec tons of options massively increasing the ap.

I’m afraid that I can’t recommend the Citroen e-C4 because it’s missed the boat, it would have been great earlier in 2020 where it would be competitive with the Peugeot e-208/e2008, the DS3 e-tense and the Vauxhall Corsa-e which it shares running gear, battery etc., with.

So what is it really up against?

The MG MG5 EV is cheaper, has a larger battery, more power, much more load space and is more efficient.

The Kia & Hyundai offerings are more expensive but go a lot further.

So sorry Citroen, you told me a year ago this car was on its way but said then that it wouldn’t arrive until the end of 2020 & I told you then that it would be late to the party and would be up against better cars by then.

wmcforum – Sorry i was meaning manual. Whats odd is in auto it comes with a 155bhp map of the engine but isnt offered on Motability.

gothitjulie – The car is more of a hatchback than suv. Its up against the Focus n Golf rathan than 2008, Karoqs/ Atecas/ Tiguans

The 155 engine is not released yet, for retail or motability customers.

Great looking car though. Look out for the almost subliminal shot of the 1970s Citroen GS in the promo video on Citroen’s website.
