The last time I checked with Motability (3 years ago) they advised that they would only permit a private registration if it had an obvious connection (I presume they meant initials or name). They also advised to allow the dealer to register the car with a standard reg and then wait a few weeks for Motability to receive the V5C before attempting to transfer the private reg to the car.

Has anyone got a private registration on a motability car which doesn’t have an obvious connection?

Secondly, is it possible to give the supplying dealer the V750 entitlement certificate in advance of delivering the car for them to register the vehicle directly with the private reg?

It’s strange how they word it, because why would you have a private plate that had no meaning or personal to yourself, but it is straight forward and the dealership should be able to take care of all of it, use the Forum Search box and you will find many posts on it and how simple it is.

I’ve got a private plate on mines and it was easy peasy

regarding having one that means something to you part , when I spoke to them on the phone they asked , I gave them my reason and that was that

you could have G because your old grand name began with G or H because your first pets make began with H

its very simple ?? Not like they can say no it isn’t lol

 

as long as what you tell them makes sense then you’re golden ?

I had it on my previous car and collected my current car in July, I told the dealer I wanted the private one on the new car , being the helpful soul that he is , he did all the necessary actions , then he called me the day before the collection date and I paid the £80 over the phone for the DVLA transfer

when I collected my car a day later it was all ready to go with my private fitted free of charge

was strange seeing the 2 cars parked next to each other with the same plates on

they handled the making up and fitting of the original 16 plate ??
