I’ve been lucky enough to get Motability. I had my heart set on the Honda E:NY1 and my seating position was way too high and the steering wheel was way too low and I was incredibly uncomfortable.

I went to look at a Vitara and an S-Cross after and while both were better I felt like I may have been jumping the gun.

I’ve come back home as I’m a bit overwhelmed and frustrated with everything and would like some opinions on the following cars before I go back out and look:

      Vauxhall Combo Life
      Peugeot Rifter
      Peugeot 3008
      MG HS
      Mazda CX-30
      Renault Scenic E-Tech
      Dacia Duster

Or if anyone else recommends anything within the £750 advance payment that is comfortable. Just trying to whittle down a list before I go out and embarrass myself again. I currently drive a Suzuki Swift and although small there’s no stupid middle arm rest and the steering wheel is quite high and flat at the bottom so feels much more comfortable than any of the other cars I tried today

I usually just pop into a dealership and have a sit in their display models. Any that pass the comfy, and ease of ingress and egress is added to a shortlist for test drive at a later date.

We all have individual requirements and its a personal issue if the car is for you or not.

Just persevere, go try cars when you feel up to it. It takes ages to get something that fits your needs.

Best of luck, its not as easy as you think…lol.

MG HS is certainly worth looking at

The centr consle on the latest Hyundai Tucson doesn’t meet the dash, this providing a little extra space for your legs.

EV’s are normally roomy (Hyundai Ioniq 5 etc)

The Enyaq is quite large but the seats are a bit small, I’m 6 foot 19 stone.

I’m 6’5″ and 18st, had no problems with,

                Ford Kuga
                Seat Ateca
Older Honda CRV (2008) – not tried the newer ones

My current Enyaq is the 85x SportLine Plus, the seats are ok but the seat base is a bit narrow, the side bolsters (look like wings) can stick into me at times.  My son is 6’3″ish about 19-20st and finds it difficult getting his head under the windscreen (sloping part of the door opening) getting in, even with the seat fully back.

As has been said above, take a day to go round dealers and have a sit in as many as you can, you’ll get a few surprises!.  I tried the Toyota BZX4 which is taller than the Enyaq and couldn’t even get under the roof to get in!, Nissan Arriya (even taller) even with the seat lowered right down had my head hitting the roof lining and the steering wheel hitting my legs!.

Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!

I sat in the new Tiguin yesterday and even though it’s a big car there wasn’t a great of space in the front. My lad who’s tall sat in the front passenger seat and even with the seat fully back his knees were hitting the glove box.

Thanks everyone. It’s the middle bolster that’s the problem. I feel like the seats are so thin now.

                    I managed to sit in

Vauxhall Combo Life – amazing height and no middle bulk so much room (but partner despises it)

Peugeot 3008 – spaceship hit my head and was tight

MG HS – alright but manual and stretching for clutch

                    Mazda CX-30 – too tight

Renault Scenic E-Tech – steering wheel okay but maybe not as tight as the rest

Dacia Duster – didn’t even bother, after setting seat position it was just too high off the floor and weird to get in

Kia Stonic – surprisingly decent but again manual

Few more to try this week

                    Jeep avengers – looks promising

Cupra born – I currently have a Suzuki Swift and it’s actually quite roomy so hoping it is similar

                    Skoda enyaq

                    Hyundai kona

                    Toyota bz4x

                    Thanks for all the replies

I’ve went with the Kona electric. Personally think there was a difference with the petrol model too. Ioniq 5 was great too just out of budget.

Didn’t try any others in the end as I knew it was right. And available within two weeks!
