I’m assuming a bit here so forgive me if I’m wrong but if like myself I already had a driving licence before becoming disabled.

When they let me out of hospital after recovery from a stroke I was in a whole new world of not knowing where to turn for help with getting back on the road. In my case I was declared by my doctor to be medically fit to drive before leaving hospital.

The assuming bit is I take it you or your girlfriend have not driven in your current situation so therefore you need information as to whether you can drive in said condition. Of course if you can drive then its a simple case of following the advice above and contacting Motability to see if you qualify.

If you need driving information as it was in my case and could drive with no disabilities I needed to be assured I could legally and safely drive with my disability.

With that all said this is who I turned to in the following link for advice though they’ve changed their name I believe they still offer the same services.

Sorry if you just need the Motability information but thought I would just make sure your OK with the driving as Motability will more than likely check that.

Whether this is any help Motability payed for my driving  with hand controls at my local disability centre so contact them if she needs that and assuming she gets high rate mobility if she needs a drive from wheelchair car or WAV Motability and she may need a grant for Advanced payment. Also contact Motability and ask for a pack to be sent to you which explains most things with some cars available list as well.
