Got new car today, blue design trim, everyone in family happy
      First impressions:
*Amazing soft ride for compare with my Nissan Leaf. No idea where speed bumps disappeared…
      * ACC is better than in Leaf, detect cars very quickly, but sometimes going crazy, phantom braking on parked cars and so on. But in all day journeys got only couple rough braking. Veeeryyy slooow accelerating when cars start move in front, painfully slow. But overall amazing Cruise control, happy.
*Lane assist is crazy, trying to kill me, when I fight, turns off. hope update change it.
*Brakes… oh my, thats something.. In middle off pedal travel finally find something and brake suddenly. Took time to find that point and now kinda ok, but takes time to brake smoothly so need to plan in front.
*Regeneration non existent, standart or high. Basically car runs faster when releasing accelerator. So weird… hope update change it. Not like one pedal driving, more like one pedal accelerating lol 🙂
*Car size for passengers very nice, but for driver space kinda crampy. Not like very bad, just weird.
*I love Nav! Never had such a big screen, so easy in new places! Sometimes goes crazy, changing route by itself, but I love all those voice warnings about speed cameras and so on.
*Very sad, no speed limiter… I got hope, dealer kinda promised that is there, but appears she meant ACC…
*And that night light show… wow. Lights everywhere, disco style. Even puddle lights when come to locked car. Headlights so bright that at first I thought Im on high beams, keep switching on and off. My Leaf lights compare with Atto LED its like candles in dark…
*Passengers in back seats with sunroof looks like in business class car, wow. All seats amazing comfy.
*Steering wheel small and very light even in sport, but idk how to describe.. you turn wheel, some clicks there, overall feeling that wheel doing there something by itself, busy with own opinion. But overall very easy drive, very easy in car parks, cool.
*charging speed 52 kWh all time from 15% to 70%, but its new car. 8 miles ODO picked up. Same with climate control, non existent yet, till get proper mileage.
With all that being said, I love car, for me its better than Bz4x which we canceled because of huge delay. Atto 3- truly build for family car, love design.
I got couple question if anyone be kind of answering:
*Rear passengers seat belts screaming when not fasten-any idea how turn that off?
*Software 1.3, update to 1.5 poped up. Parked, connected wifi, started loading update. But then I by habit did stupid thing-turned car off and walked away. When I came back, it says updated to v 1.5, but car still shows 1.3.
No Android auto, no app store, nothing changed. Cant update now, after press update short message “checking”, and disappears, nothing. Tried factory reset, restart android, no joy. Any ideas?

      Thanks

        From what you say

There appears to be far to many things about this car that would not only scare but would also annoy me.

But well done as imo anything is prettier than the Bz4x

        Enjoy your car

may need to take it back to dealer for the update. maybe for other things too.  sounds like there may be a few rough edges still to be polished

Reading that, it would definitely be a brand to ignore for me. Too many issues for my liking.

ACC acts as the speed limiter

I know, I mostly mentioned cons here lol 🙂

when I choosing a car, I use kinda points system, and BYD Atto scored most over Toyota and others. Ya know, AP price, availability, tech count and so on.
Its very hard to explain… when you sit in Toyota, Hyundai (except Ionic 5), Kia and others, you kinda ok, looking what you got for price, everything about dull same interior over years. When you sit in BYD, you kinda traveled to future, its like driving spaceship, not a car. Every small detail:
ex yesterday I exit car and heard very gentle girls voice “you left your keys in the car”. At first by surprise I thought “the heck, is someone just flirting with me???”. Then I realised that is car speaking with me. Its so gentle non intrusive voice. My daughter said today after watching tube videos: “BYD, drop the top!”. Gentle Byd stewardess said “opening only half way, speed to high”.
Plenty of cons in that car, but pros more. Ex amazing high end Mercedes class LED, wow bright, exceptional fast high beam sensor, infotainment screen size and speed like 70k german cars. And list of small things goes on.
Is rly hard to say, sometimes come to personal preferences. I love future tech for affordable price, always been into it. Why I need invest all my money to 5k AP (and borrow some) to get high tech? BYD offers half of that tech for £0 AP.
My family happy at rear seats, bright, comfy like in Mercedes-that matters me most.

Nice honest review of your new car. Having to live with your choice day to day for 3 years it is so important to find the right one that also affordable. BYD offer a lot of car for the price point in a competitive EV market. Hope you get the teething niggles sorted out.

A very nice review. I just wish the BYD was a just a bit bigger and it would be genuine contender. Enjoy your car and I hope you will continue to update your thoughts.

If it’s any consolation, I’ve had some of the same issues with my MG4 Trophy, had many attempts to fix and correct the overzealous LKA and harsh Phantom Braking, finally give up and decided to hand the car back.

If I forget to turn off (which is fiddly, through many menus) Front Collision Assist, and Lane Keeping Assist, the car is likely to give me whiplash inducing phantom braking and it wrestles the steering wheel away from non-existent lane markings. Narrow lanes or country roads, don’t even attempt these with LKA active, it has tried to throw me into oncoming traffic.

Just a forewarning to not ignore overzealous LKA and Phantom Braking, as it is a worrying issue and doesn’t get better on its own. Report it to your dealer and cross your fingers there are some calibrations and updates to be had.

Current: 2023 MG4 Trophy (soon to get rid)
Ordered: VW ID4 Match Pro 210kw 77kWh [Blue Dusk] Expected August!
