I’m collecting my car tomorrow and have been sent a payment link by the dealer which recommends bank transfer – I’m within my right to want to pay for it in a normal way using a card ,machine in person, aren’t I?

If you have online banking you can do the payment yourself, just ask the bank for their account name, sort code and account number.
Personally I wouldn’t be happy using a 3rd party financing company (which is what Bumper is) to have any part of a transaction between myself and the garage. The less people involved the better, and I certainly wouldn’t let them have access to my face or fingerprint.
Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!

If your question relates to a Motability vehicle, the normal procedure is to pay with your debit/credit card after any remaining paperwork is signed and finalised with the dealer in person. However if you wish you could pay by bank transfer direct from your bank but, this may delay collection depending on whether faster payments are used or not.
February 7, 2023 at 9:34 am #208569A lot of dealers won’t accept credit or debit card payment over £500 due to the transaction fees. Direct bank transfer is usually the norm these days but I wouldn’t be happy doing it via a third party.
If I seem a little strange, that's because I am.

February 7, 2023 at 10:08 am #208575They shouldn’t be able to decline the use of a credit card in my opinion

RichDebit card fees are generally a fixed amount not a % it’s credit cards with a fixed fee plus x%
February 7, 2023 at 5:57 pm #208606Never had any problems paying with a debit card after I inspected that the car was all I ordered, without any damages and any extras I ordered were there.
Different dealers have told me they don’t like credit card payments, as the incur costs.
But, I do enjoy seeing their faces when I offer to pay in cash!!

4AgesofManI asked our vauxhall dealer if we could pay cash and they said no. Only card or bank transfer. Maybe because of the amount (£1,599) or because they simply have a no cash policy.
