Build week/production week. Is there a difference?

      Hi all

Looking for a bit of clarification as I can’t seem to wrap me head around the terminology. I’ve been updated by my dealer that the car has been given a production week (01) which is the first week in Jan. He also stated that the build week can come in and be sooner. Aren’t build and production the same thing? I don’t want to be a pain and bombard him with questions so I thought I’d ask for advice from the knowledgeable people here.

      Thanks.

I would say there one of the same, might be wrong but its not a term but simple language used to say the same thing.

Production week is based upon a forward forecast of what cars are going to be built based on a 12 week schedule, 4 weeks confirmed, 4 weeks tentative, 4 weeks raw material.

Cars are built in batches of specs vs orders, but the 4 week confirmed should be built as per schedule, so long as the manufacturer doesn’t hit an issue, such as batch quality failure, supplier not meeting schedule etc.

This can mean some xars being brought forward or back.

build week is when the car is confirmed to be built a certain week. However, of course, things can happen on the build to stop that confirmed build.
