Hi all just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem as me with the charger tripping. We get cheap electricity during the night and all weekend. My charger seems to trip the breaker after about two hours of charge by which time I’m asleep and don’t get the alert on my phone until the morning. Bp pulse sent an update last week but it’s still doing it.

Hi, Taking into accoun I have not seen or done any tests on your system, I can only hazard I guess what might be causng the problem.

The O PEN device (if fitted) in your charger, monitors for a rise on the DNO neutral cable and will disconnect the supply if a PEN fault is detected on a PME earthing syetem and removes the need for an external earth rod to be fitted.  The O PEN device could be out of tollerance, fauty or it is indeed doing its job as should, detecting a fault.

The current clamp monitors the total load in amps goining through your home and will disconnect the supply if it is reaching close to the rating of your cutou fuse. I doubt it wll be this but, it is possible with the right equipment to measure wether there is a fault on the charging circuit somewhere. CP incorrectly set  diode fault.

        Faulty charger.

        and so on…..

Have you tried charging during the day for a couple of hours to see if the fault replicates itself or have you a neighbour with an EV, who would be willing to charge there vehicle overnight to see if the fault still happens. I would also inform Motability and demand BP send an engineer out to determine the fault!

Realistically you need to get the installer out if under warranty. You need a sparky to thoroughly test everything there’s a lot of juice passing thru and you need to be sure everything is ok and any fault rectified.

Had 3 years of misery with a BP pulse unit. My first 2 did that until they replaced the fuse box inside the house. The third unit just works when it wants to so im in the process now of changing it to a Ohme charger with Motability. Afraid BP pulse are just rubbish.

From my own experience BP Pulse did not honor their warranty when my charger developed a semi permanent fault. The 2G system could not maintain a link to the BP servers.

Had the same problem. Do you live in an older property. If so you main fuse will be a low wattage. Find out who is responsible for the power coming into your property. Get them to upgrade to 100wt main fuse and you will have no problem. Once I had my upgrade I have never had a problem.
