..Some things for those who are awaiting orders.

On pick up my bmw dealer (synther) only supplied the upto 22kw charger mode 3.

BMW stopped including mode 2 cable(isnt an issue due to one supplied with home charger)

The main issue for me is, i was assured ,the car with manual seats will have a angle adjustment of the whole seat (see pic no3)..But it has not got this adjustment and i have to say the seats after 1200 miles in one word are crap..Yes you get the pull out cushion but even with that the seat base is not long enough and jeez the seat is hard and 50 mile+jouney you will notice how bad they are.

To drive superb, and the range for me is around 235 and in this weather im happy as this will rise in warmer months.

Car has been in dealers once for blank info screen and is due in on 2nd jan as rear left window wont open or close..These are i think just bad luck, im not suggesting all i4 with have this issue.

The parking assist package inc 360 camera is superb ,takes photo and videos of where car is parked so handy to check on it ,whilst in shops or visiting places etc..no dashcam wires to deal with as the inbuilt drive recorder with 6 video angles does a great job.

.The car reversing on own copying your driving in reverse upto a certain point, really helpful for me where i live ,on country lanes especially with oncoming tractors.

The park assist only seems to work if parking bay lines are clear and struggles at night, although something i dont use much.

Im averaging 3.9 kwh mainly in comfort mode and i have to say im loving the ‘B’ mode 1 pedal driving it really helps the drive to be stress free as can be…Apart from the seating i cant fault the car, those who have had the comfort pack included will obviously not have the same issue.Do i regret not paying a couple of thousamd to have this optiom,Nope i still think its a rip off in a car like this that front seats are not electric.

I paid for lumbar support which worls fine but you DO NOT get the seat side bolster adjustment button that is standard on the 40.

The heated steerimg wheel is not the best ,,maimly does the side of steer wheel not top or base.

Another issue no blind spot monitor in mirrors, again would think be standard not part of a pricey package.

Ive subscribed to the £25 a year speed camera alert,if others also wish to do ,then before doing take advantage of the 1 month free trial before commiting.

        Thanks for your review….Interesting.

can I ask if you went for the upgraded leather option? The seats felt comfortable for me on the test drive but you only know once you have the car. I went for the standard seats as I was told the leather upgrade does not give as good heat compared to standard and are harder.

I’m shocked at the range, i thought the lowest it would be would be around 250 in the cold weather. This means more planning and stops on trips.

The seats are the standard sports seats..One thing that surprised me was the rear seats,im 6ft 2 so i was expecting limited room in the rear like many reviewers stated on youtube. However once in, the head room is pretty good ,.The range obviously will vary from driver to driver but i have spent most time in eco mode and “b” .What i will mention is the heater fan really effects the range, you be better off using heated seats and steerin wheel(if you have  that optiom).Around 50mph it is very good holding the range,.Ive set out on few journeys and come back with more range than left with due to the regen.

My first electric car and i have found in away ,alot of enjoyment in changing a few driving habits.

Having the instant power and it being pretty nippy i have actually not pushed it, due to being concious of the range etc,as such the drive is so smooth relaxing and enjoyable .So a few annoying things as i previously mentiomed in other post, however for me im happy to say im sold on having a EV.

One pedal driving is a blessing isn’t it?

3.9 miles per kWh is quite decent for winter.  It suggest 5 should be possible in summer months.

What’s the claimed range meant to be? From what I’ve read on this forum, EV range in the winter seems to be at least 20% lower than in the summer for many of them. Hope that you manage to find the right balance of enjoying the car and managing the range. Seems to be utterly pointless to spend all that money on a nice fast car but have to pootle around at 50mph with the heating off in order to conserve range. Doesn’t sound much like enjoyment to me!

That’s the problem with discussing EV range, some will pootle at 50, and say 5m per kw, others travel at 70-75 and get 3.2m pkw. Heat on vs heat off, driving modes, town or open motorway etc. On SpeakEV there are plenty of folk who have “achieved” 300+ miles in a Kia Soul 64kw, I’ve never seen over 255.  Mind you, a lot of the EV early adopters were hyoermiling ex Prius owners….lol.

EV Database is pretty accurate if you want to see town/A road/motorway consumption.

EV database says 190 to 250 miles in winter, 255 to 385 miles in summer.

                    Still a reasonable range.

                      BMW quote 284-299 miles

                      EVdatabase estimates 190-385 miles…

Cold Weather – City *250 mi, Highway * 190 mi, Combined *220 mi

Mild Weather – City *385 mi, Highway *255 mi, Combined *310 mi

*Indication of real-world range in several situations. Cold weather: ‘worst-case’ based on -10°C and use of heating. Mild weather: ‘best-case’ based on 23°C and no use of A/C. For ‘Highway’ figures a constant speed of 70 mph is assumed. The actual range will depend on speed, style of driving, weather and route conditions.
