      Hi everyone,

First time threat, so please be gentle.

We’ve placed an order for a Golf back in April.

Due to be delivered (hopefully) sometime in Nov/Dec this year.

Before placing the order, I asked the dealer loads of times to arrange a test drive for us to ensure that the seats are comfortable, getting in and out of the car would be easy enough when compared to our current motability car (Astra).

However, every time I asked the Motability sales person kept saying “We don’t have a vehicle at the moment you can test drive” etc…

I didn’t want to take the risk in cancelling the order since I’m so close to getting the car now.

I just wanted to check though…On the day we go to get the car do we have the right to say to the Motability Sales person “I would like to test drive our new car before entering the pin and agreeing to take the car”?

      Thank you.

Don’t wait, go get a test drive NOW!

You’ll turn up on the day and ask for a test… what if they say they don’t have the time or the proper insurance until you’ve agreed to take the car?

If the garage you’ve ordered from won’t give you a test drive go get a test drive elsewhere otherwise you’ll be here next year asking how to get out of the contract ?‍♂️

It begs the question why you ordered the Golf if you haven’t had a good understanding of its suitability? As Rhodgie suggests, this is a recipe for disaster.

To be fair, it’s more on the Motability ‘specialist’. They need to ensure the customers needs will be met by the vehicle via a test drive, equipment fitment etc. Yes, a certain degree of personal responsibility comes into it, but, If they’re prepared to be so lazy with a sale that they can’t afford a customer a test drive then more fool them when it isn’t accepted at handover.

you would think they might have a second hand one at least or know where you could find one. anyway as suggested even if you cant testdrive it at least get a seat in one and try various positions etc. sit for a while too.
