SH1Morning all. I ordered a Q4 etron bank in September. Told should receive it in dec/jan. when my husband rang about the reduced AP he was told that would be no problem and that we should get the car in 5 weeks as it’s due for build this Monday.
any advice welcome – are they still building the Q4 40 model or should I enquire about the new 45 model?

MaskyThe new 45 model will start being built from week 44 onwards so if you car is being built next Monday then it’s most likely you’ll still get the current 40 model. I phoned my dealer about my order and they said I can’t change the advance payment since it’s locked in and if I cancel then I’d go back to the end of the queue. I think my dealer is clueless tbh. It should just be an admin change for the reduced AP and shouldn’t affect the order with Audi.

Ring Motability and ask them to changer it to the lower payment as other have done with dopey dealers 🙂

Your dealer is being unhelpful and playing loose with the truth.
I ordered my car, a Mazda CX5, last December with delivery in late January. In January the AP dropped by £500 and I spoke to my dealer. As we spoke, he cancelled by Motobility order and placed a new one at the new AP. The order for the car remained the same.
The dealer does not keep the AP, that goes to MB so it is no difference to him what you pay.October 5, 2023 at 1:30 pm #236567
MaskyI called motability too and they said the can’t change the advance payment. I said what if I cancel and put in a new application. They said they can’t stop me doing that so I guess that’s the only way. Will head to the dealer tomorrow and tell them to put in a new application at the lower price but keep my order with Audi the same

Thats where I don’t get Motabilty – if they do it for one they should do it for all. Ring back later and speak to another advisor.
If you do decide to cancel hopefully theres another Audi dealer in your area you can re order with.
October 5, 2023 at 2:11 pm #236574In response to Masky and Kezo, Motobility are correct in what they have said to you.
What you have to do is view ordering a new car through MB as two separate processes. We choose our car and accept the AP is, say, £2500.
We see the dealer who opens his screen on the Motobility page, checks our eligibility etc and then accepts our MB order at £2500. That’s the first order and generates a reference numberThe second order is when the salesman puts a hold on a build slot or on a physical vehicle on his dealership intranet. That’s the second order and the two are linked.
He can cancel and reorder the MB order without cancelling the dealership order. If he doesn’t, he’s just being awkward. My dealer didn’t even blink, he said good job saving £500.
MB can’t interfere in Part b but you can. Think about it, the car he ordered you is still there or scheduled to be built. He could be an arse and give it to someone else if he has a customer on hand or he could spend 5 minutes on the computer changing MB order, keep the sale and have a happy customer.

As others have said, just ask the dealer to re-do the admin on the Motability system so that you pay the new AP. It only takes them a few minutes and makes not a penny difference to what they receive for the car. To be clear, they do not need to cancel the actual order (which is with the manufacturer) in order to do this, so it doesn’t affect the lead time for your vehicle. It’s just a minor admin thing.
A few people have mentioned the prospect of getting the more powerful 45 model as the 40 is being discontinued. I’m afraid that it doesn’t work like that. The only way that people will get a 45 version is if it comes on to the Motability scheme and is ordered specifically as one (it will have a different order number and, most likely, a higher AP). In the unlikely event that a current order for a 40 model can’t be fulfilled, a far more likely outcome will be that the order will be cancelled. I’m happy to be proved wrong, but that’s the way that it usually works out.
