      Hello,

I am overdue to handback my Seat Alhambra but the problem is, what can I replace it with?

My requirements are a full size 7 seater, Auto and it must have at least a drivers electric seat.

I actually don’t see anything on the scheme with this feature, short of an Smax with the lux pack or maybe one of the van based people carriers.

And that means I’m into a massive AP aswell…the Alhambra was less than £1500!

I’d love to know your suggestions please.

      Thanks.

If you’ve done under 60k miles you can keep it for another 2 years. New quarter on friday, so we’ll see what happens…

I’m afraid apart from Citroen, the manufacturers are walking away from Alhambra type cars.

Ford are dropping both the Galaxy and s-max which are built on the Mondeo platform which is being discontinued with no replacements.

vw are bringing out a new microbes type car, but not sure if this will appear on the scheme.

          try the Citroen

The S-Max with Lux Pack is one I’m keeping an eye on.

As we know the petrol and diesel versions with the cheaper AP have been withdrawn so it’s only the Hybrid now with its higher AP, same goes for the Galaxy.

I’m hoping for a slight reduction in the AP for ether of these cars likewise for the cost of the adaptions I have to buy but if they go up I will kick it into the long grass until Q1 next year.

Its that or the return of the Allspace Tiguan / Tarraco but not holding out much hope there.

All in all it’s a real bad time for those of us who need to carry a hoist and scooter unless you don’t mind a van.

Hi Brianna, as a seriously satisfied Alhambra driver, I feel your pain.

I remember before I ordered hearing middle aged men and women saying its the best car they’ve owned. At the time I found that odd as its just a box on wheels isn’t it? Well, 2 and a half years down the line, I totally get why. It was designed for one purpose and that is to carry 7 adults and their luggage in comfort and to occasionally act as small van for deliveries, house moves and trips to the tip. It (and its sister VW Sharan) nailed the brief perfectly. I can hardly believe I took delivery as it was reaching its tenth birthday and yet it still feels modern and relevant.

How to replace such a vehicle?

As said above, all large MPVs are being discontinued and replaced by awful, ugly and impractical SUV’s. The 7 seat SUV’s that are top of the tree (Kodiaq, Allspace, 5008) can’t hold a candle to the Alhambra for space- and that’s why we buy 7 seaters. These are merely pretenders.

Yes, there is the 7 seat Berlingo and it appears to be roomy and highly rated (like the Rifter and Vauxhall Combo) but isn’t exactly pretty. They feel a backward step and have weedy engines. Back to being vans with windows.

So, I decided to extend the lease- that is until some tasty electric cars started to arrive onto the scheme. Now I’m really torn!

Sorry I’ve probably not helped but there you go. At least we share a problem. But is it halved?

Miss our Alhambra best car ever owned now have a Peugeot Traveller what a heap of @@@@ well hopefully it’s just ours without A/c gas no heater windows stuck door won’t open and a suspension fault but just in case don’t replace your special Alhambra with this only advantage it’s big enough mind you Traveller nearly a month old now so shouldn’t complain surprised we got this far.

I am the carer / driver for my wife who cannot drive due to disability

Same problem here. My wife extended the lease last year so have to change in June next year. The Alhambra is the best car we’ve ever run. It take my wife’s scooter easily via a hoist and still leaves 5 seats. We don’t like van conversions so it looks like we will have change to a smaller, more uncomfortable scooter and a smaller, less spacious SUV.
