Most likely he will be allowed to keep it, if around 6 weeks or more have passed since having it fitted.

If it was fitted today for instance and your friend cancled the car on Friday and ordered a PHEV for example I doub’t they will be best pleased but, alwas worth a courtesy call to Motability.

Its a strange one really because even if you dont cancel,if a new EV arrived at dealer and on pick up customer finds an issue with new car that warrants a cancellation ,that is not customers fault if then reordered a phev petrol diesal.

I ordered an EV a few months ago, Had a charger fitted, then cancelled and ordered a PHEV because this was a bigger higher up SUV more suited to my deteriorating condition. Motability were very understanding about the cancellation.

I don’t think it would be an issue as the whole point is to get as many chargers fitted as possible I doubt they cost much to MB or dealers or manufacturers so I am guessing they know eventually it will be used as the roll out of EV continues plus you can hire it out ?

I am the carer / driver for my wife who cannot drive due to disability
