From the Motability website – lattest Covid-19 Update:
With less traffic on the roads as a result of the lockdown, will I be eligible for a refund from my Scheme insurance?
Yes, as lockdown has led to fewer drivers on the road, the Scheme is seeing a lower level of claims, enabling it to share a windfall with customers. We have made this decision in consultation with Motability, the Charity. As a result, we are set to send an insurance-based refund of £50 to every car and Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle customer.
There is no need for customers to contact us in connection with this insurance refund, as we will automatically issue this payment as soon as possible from the second half of May.

brydo we donated our monthly save on diesel just last week?
April 28, 2020 at 1:49 pm #112421brydo
Great Jane, I donated £30 recently and the wife plans to donate the £50 coming her way.
I realise not everyone can afford to donate but if you can it would be fantastic.
My son has lost 2 people he knows to the virus, a friend, and a coworker, but hats off to those who put their lives on the line trying to save them.
April 28, 2020 at 2:09 pm #112426This is very welcome news.
Well done Motability, and thank you. ?? ?

Jane its a terrible time, we are getting so used to hundreds dying each day that it may take another twelve months before we grasp the enormity of what we have just lived through.
Well over 20,000 of our family, friends, relatives and UK soles dead, who could ever have dreamt this could happen.
Very sad.

Great news.
Does anyone know if this will be in the form of a cheque? Same for the GCB? Under the current circumstances it would be safer to bank transfer if the option was available…

Not sure about the £50 refund.
However for the GCB, Motability customers will apparently be sent a text from Motability containing a link to set up an account on the Motability website. You enter some details and your bank account details and Motability will pay the GCB into your bank account.
If anyone is suspicious about the text or wish to confirm that it is not a phishing or fraudulent text, or have any questions about it they can confirm it by ringing Motability on 0300 456 4566.
If you take no action on receiving the text, Motability will send you a cheque as normal.
Some banks permit you to take a photograph of the cheque using the bank’s app on a mobile phone and the cheque can be credited to your account that way rather than physically paying the cheque into the bank.

I believe the text customers will receive about the Good Condition Bonus contains both a link and details of how to set up an account.
If they haven’t got a mobile phone number to send a text to, I presume you will receive a cheque.
You could always use the ‘update your details’ webform on the Motability website to give your mobile number to Motability:
