As the title states I have given in to my desires and ordered a new X1 to replace my existing Mineral Grey/Oyster X1.

I have chosen the 20i X-Line – X-Drive which I have already owned for the past three years. I have chosen Mineral White paint/Black Leather with the added extra cost options of Sport Seats, Lumbar Support and Sun Protection Glass.

Managed to obtain the same discounts as others with an estimated delivery date of July 2021.

AP is more than double what I paid three years ago but the specification has improved, whith many of the previous extra cost options I chose now standard specification. With the achieved discount combined with the good condition bonus, my net AP cost will be £300.00 more expensive than the cost of my present X1 with £1,200.00 of factory options.

George – were you given an estimated delivery date? I ordered an X1 a couple of weeks ago and the dealer is telling me that BMW aren’t progressing any orders to build allocations at the moment, so we aren’t even in the queue yet. NosherN is being told July, as is Shellie who ordered one at the same time as me, so if you have been given a provisional date then that’s three of you – in which case my dealer is telling me porkies (even though they showed me the bulletin from BMW).

That’s very good George. The dealer that I ordered from said that their X1 orders have been taking 5 months from order to delivery. They hoped that might improve, but then told me that all orders that hadn’t progressed to provisional build date were put on hold last week. You are obviously well past that stage so should be OK. We test drove the X1 today (see separate thread) and my wife now wants to check out the XC40 so we are off to Volvo tomorrow and have a test drive of the T5 Recharge booked for next week ?

Glos Guy Im sure that the XC40 will drive well, however, I wouldnt class Volvo in the same class as BMW. The seats in the XC40 look nice but I am aware of customer reports of the seat frame pushing through the seat squab. My expeience of Volvo seats also confirms that the leather used by Volvo is a very supple, nappa type which does not age or wear very well, unlike my experience of BMW seats. My X1 which has Oyster coloured interior trim and extra cost sport seats. Given that it is used daily and I am a ‘well nourished’ guy of 110kg the seats are showing very little signs of wear. The only issue I have had, and it is a common issue with light coloured seats is dye transfer from denim jeans. A simple wipe down with leather cleaner solves the problem or the application of a protective colour block gives a longer time solution to the issue.
