Yes I saw that. Very interesting. Includes the first car to be worth less than 30% of its new price after just 3 years. This is just one of the many reasons why private buyers aren’t embracing EVs at anything like the rate that fleet customers (most of whom benefit from the lower benefit in kind taxation) are. Good news for Motability customers though. We don’t have the same worries about EV depreciation and resale issues (other than the high APs which, to a degree, reflect this), so Motability remains an obvious route to help manufacturers achieve their targets.

Another link example of EV  12 month losses some bargains out there, Mobility is exposed to a very volatile market at the moment, along with insurance increases we are shield from the exposure. Even the used car market are dropping over the past 12 months

Slightly misleading statistics at first glance.

What they call resale value is actually what you might expect to get as a trade-in, which makes sense but I would suspect some readers might expect to be able to purchase a 3 year old Corsa e (for example) for just under £10k.

I searched 3 year old Vauxhall Corsa e models on Auto trader and found 39.

Apart from one high mileage example and another Cat N, all were between £12000 and £16600, with the average around £13500.

This confirms that dealers are looking for far more profit (greed?) these days than perhaps 5 years ago.

Who’d have thought that flipping a 3 year old Corsa was going to give a gross profit of £3500?
