I did these sort of calculations some time back & have been keeping an eye on electric cars ever since, the simple equation is that it must save enough over a petrol or diesel to fund the extra AP.
I have switched to octopus energy loads cheaper than my previous supplier and only 5 pence a kWh off peak, in theory it could cut you energy cost a further £800 down to £400
