Paul, I totally agree with everything you say. My biggest fear was coming from a 2 litre Insignia Estate and finding a lack of power in only a 1.6 diesel, however I can honestly say that there is absolutely no difference in performance (despite the 0-60 figure looking worse) and has all the performance and pull I could ever require, even after the car was fully loaded and with three adults, on two return trips from Glasgow to Blackpool earlier this year.
Standard equipment wise, there is simply no competition out there, some makes look cheaper, but when you add all the optional extras, to equal the Optima’s equipment levels, then the AP is thousands more than the Kia.
A very sad day. I don’t know why Hyundai don’t put the i40 on the Motability list.
