It’s a big worry for we disabled folk as I’ve got a KIA Carens and is one of a very few cars that has a smallish footprint, for those of us that don’t live in castles or manor houses, with the VW Touran being one other and KIA have already withdrawn the Carens and the Touran may follow but at least with VW they are going to introduce a new model replacement for the Touran about 2021 but KIA have just given up and have no replacements. I’ve read that Ford are also doing away with some of their MPV cars too.

So why does that matter when there are loads of SUV’s that can carry disabled equipment, well no they don’t unless you go for massive cars with massive AP’s along the lines of the VW AllSpace because they insist on lowering the roof line towards the back end in most if not all SUV’s in the name of style and therefore were left with cars that you can’t load an assembled pavement scooter/wheelchair into the back with a hoist.

For the rest of the abled World it’s nothing to worry about but for us its a big, big problem and I just hope the new Touran is a good replacement for the current model or that the All-Space remains with a reasonable AP for the DSG models or I’m up a creek but one thing for sure, my next car will not be a KIA even thought the Carens is a reasonable disabled person workhorse.
