I have something called Ankylosing spondylitis.

My symptoms started when I was about 11.

But not diagnosed till early twenties.

Its a disease that slowly fuses large joints first and then all ligaments with no cure.

My complete spine is now fused it’s called bamboo spine and part of my neck and my sacroiliac joints were my spine meets my pelvis.

Its now attacked both knees and the tendons in my feet.

With this I found out I had osteoporosis too.

Following an incident a few years ago when a white van driver hit me from behind while on his phone.

I had to be cut out of my car, had 15 fractured vertebrae along with previous fractures that I’d had pinned from neck to my lumber spine. Trapping my spinal cord, called stenosis which gives me burning pins and needles down both legs to my toes, numb feet and palms of my hands and a lot of extra night time pain in my lumber spine.

I’ve now also got a forward bend (kyphosis) of 97 degrees and to the right ( scoliosis) with no fix due to the risk of blindness or total paralysis.

So I’m on some pretty major pain killers inc liquid morphine and Biologic injections and muscle relaxant drugs, all block different pain signals.

Also I have to wear a neck brace at night and a different one during the day to help keep my neck straighter as without it I’m looking at my feet.

So obviously finding a car seat that I feel comfortable in is a major problem.

On top of that about 5 years ago my wife started having fits at night? It turns out she has had a rare form of epilepsy probably all her life that Isn’t treatable, it gradually got worse and worse until she is now having daily hallucinations.

So I’m also her main carer.
