As I’ve just posted on another thread in response to someone else posting a link to this article, the key learning is that 300 Motability customers in Northern Ireland alone have been kicked off the scheme in just the last half year due to these boxes.
Only 3% of the U.K. population lives in Northern Ireland. Very quick maths shows that scaled up across the whole U.K. that could result in 20,000 people per year being kicked off the scheme. Plus, of course, that assumes that the criteria doesn’t change. If it gets extended to all new leases I think they’d struggle to manage the enormous volume of terminations that they’d be dealing with!
Thankfully the BBC haven’t enabled comments for this article, as I don’t think we’d like the responses. If they were to mirror the sort of anti- Motability comments of every other article over this past year, it would be very depressing reading.
