Charge speeds quoted were more realistic that Hyundai’s 350kW, BYD are saying 220, with a 25 minute 10-80% instead of the 16 minute that never happens. The I5 has an incredibly high but rather brief top charging rate, it then drops to something more in line with this one, which makes sense.

I’d also be more confident that BYD won’t have the ICCU issues that come with many of the Hyundai/KIA cars, current victims include the EV6, I5&6 and the EV3 (for a different reason).  It’s also worth noting the Atto3 Evo and Leaf both come with the all important Heat Pump that’s not even an option for the EV5.

To be fair, if the threat of the black box comes true, the AWD will be utterly useless when the acceleration will only present you with a negative mark for the day.  I’ve been driving since 1989, had 3 accidents 2 of which were shared fault and one was sliding along on wet leaves, all of which were when the year started with a 19.  It’s almost insulting that I will have to tolerate this permanent monitor that knows better than me when I can and can’t accelerate, when bumps are my fault (all the time apparently) and when I stop too fast.  I’m also unsure how anyone in Cornwall will cope if only allowed to drive for an hour, it’s at least that to get to Exeter (the nearest motorway) and could well be 3 hours if you’re rural enough, all timings assume clear roads.  Try getting out of the county on a summer Saturday and it’s 2-3 hours for us instead of 100 minutes.  I’d come back from a holiday to a letter requiring the return of the car and cancellation of the insurance.  Fantastic.

I'll try to give my honest opinion but am always open to learning.
