Update!
My new license arrived today! Only applied late last Saturday night so under a week.
Still no sign of my friends, after 3-1/2 weeks it still says processing. We’re assuming it’s because he’s on insulin and they’re getting in touch with his GP.
Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!
