I’m inclined to agree. I think that the only potential outcomes at the next general election are a Reform majority, or a coalition formed of either Reform & Tories, or Labour & tbc (Green, Lib Dem or whoever would keep them in power). On that basis, all those primary parties have Motability in their sights, so I fear that big changes are coming.
We will most likely leave the scheme, but primarily this is due to the lack of choice (especially the illogical removal of premium brands) and the stigma now associated with being a scheme customer. As my wife is a full time wheelchair user, and we have to have a person hoist to get her in and out of the car, I’m confident that she would retain eligibility to join the scheme under any of the political parties, but if her eligibility was as a result of a mental health condition then I’d be very concerned, as I think that all the major parties have this aspect in their sights.
