I was listening to a news item today on LBC that suggested keeping the current ICE ban at 2030 could encourage Chinese EV manufacturers to set up in the UK to help them access the EU market, especially with the EU considering pushing their ban back beyond 2035.

Theres still the matter of leggacy manufacturers being a a disadvantage to the EU and would push hard to fall in line with 2020 as they are openly struggling.

Whis’t the UK& EU both have a strong understanding as each other largest automotive export market. We are however still a third country and China dumping manufacturing here would still be open to huge tariffs exporting to the EU, which is the reason BYD chose a plant in Spain inside the EU over us in the first place

The announcement will slow down the transition to electric, which would leave our leggacy manufacturers wide open with the potential of loosing made in britain!
