20 metres is maximum points for just the Moving Around element, 50 metres would be a guarantee that all recipients would be physically limited whilst including an element of the more psychological Planning and Following a Journey, which currently means someone who can walk just fine is eligible for a car in its own right.
This change would mean, for example, if someone qualified for 12 points on the planning descriptor, they’d still need 8 points or more for moving around to qualify for a car. This could be in conjunction with or exclusive of the PIP criteria.
