I used to work for NEAL/Ferrograph (tape recorders, HiFi etc.) back in the mid-late 70’s/early 80’s.
Spent a lot of time around some very nice HiFi in my time, lost count of the number of systems I’ve had!.
Then in 1979 I spent £500 on a Rotel RA-1312 amp and a pair of Kef 104AB speakers, my mum went mad, I was only on £40 a week!. Sound quality is excellent, no need to adjust bass/treble, still got them and in use today 🙂
In fact I was just looking on Ebay and found an RA-1312 up for sale ….. £1035!!!!
I subsequently bought another 2 pairs of the 104AB’s to keep and use are spares if needed and a Rotel RC/RB 980BX pre and power amp pair, those I use in my living room with a second set of the Kef’s.
