I am not obsessing about range, and my Ariya is averaging around 3.5 miles per kWh ( 140 mpg equivalent- using the ‘multiply by 40’ rule which gives me a quick, rough idea, for comparison to petrol and diesel powered cars )

I don’t understand the multiply by 40 rule😂 Petrol has an energy density of approx 33.7kWh per gallon – e.g if you travel 100 miles on 33.7kWh of energy, the MPGe would be 100MPGe. At 3.5 miles kWh, therfore your MPGe figure is 117.95 MPGe or 28.57 kWh/100miles 0r 285.71 Wh/mile. MPGe, is more a US thing for EV’s and PHEV’s and not typically used in europe, where metric miles (Km)/kWh or Wh/mile (Km) are typically used. 3.5 miles/kWh for 17 pence is cheap motoring, in a car that did 50mpg, the same 3.5 miles would cost just under 41 pence however, it would have been less than half the cost if OVO didn’t change Charge Anytime!

    ,

II just used  this to Obtain the  40 x  rule – they and Isaid i t.is not accurate, just an on the the  journeey guide

As you say, even at 17p it is still cheap motoring,

The difference with the new Charge Anytime compared to the current version, is that it is a charge of .17p per kWh ‘ at any time of the day ,compared to the existing charge anytime , which picks and choses when to charge.

A fixed DD payment for £59.50 giving up to 1400 miles is just clean and very convenient, and is still cheap compared to OVo’ or any other normal tariff and petrol/dieselac

Thanks for the info anyway – good to know how to accurately calculate figures?
