I decided to tial Octopus Go, which gives 5hrs off peak at 8.10 pence kWh. To schedule the charging between these hours, I ended up using a 13A smart plug, as the Bluelink app scheduling kept resetting to charge as soon as the charger was connected to the car – useless app imo.

This is my typical electricity bill ferrying daughter school and back 400 miles a month + any running about I do. The negative f using a 2 rate tariff is your standing charge increases a bit and the peak rate is based just below SVR.

    Rate Consumption Cost
    8.10p/kWh 152.6 kWh £12.35 (£42.42 on peak rate 24h)
    27.80p/kWh 149.7 kWh £41.63
    Total consumption 302.3kWh @ 17.86p/kWh † £53.98
    Standing Charge 30 days @ 47.50p/day £13.96
Subtotal of charges before VAT £67.94
    VAT @ 5.00% £3.40
    Total Electricity Charges £71.34
