@joss It’s crazy that BMW have dispensed with the rotary controller on their lower range models. It was universally regarded as the best infotainment system on the market, partly because the controller was so much easier (and safer) than 100% touch-screen systems. On the positive side, they have added ‘Auto Hold’ to the latest X1 / X2. The absence of this was the only thing that still irritated me about our last X1, right up until the time we handed it back after 3 years.
@solent60 Funnily enough, I watched that YouTube review comparing EV, PHEV and ICE with the same car yesterday and found it very interesting, especially as I’ve had several BMW 5 Series over the years. I’m not a fan of Matt Watson, but this was a considered review and I agreed with the outcomes. Like @kezo we went PHEV this time and I’m not convinced that I’d get another, unless it was a car that I really wanted and the EV range was much better. Unlike @kezo most of my driving is on motorways and the electric range isn’t great in that scenario. Whereas Kezo gets around the claimed 38 EV miles, I tend to get closer to 30 miles and when the battery is depleted mpg is woeful.
