AnonymousGreat car, have the IX2.
Thought not having a rear wiper may be a problem but it’s not.
The shape is not to everyone’s tastes but i really like it.August 6, 2025 at 12:41 pm #310865Hi joss, if you don’t mind me asking, did they give you any idea of the lead time “
August 6, 2025 at 12:42 pm #310861Hope it’s good for you.
I’ve just ordered a VW Tayron.
August 6, 2025 at 12:48 pm #310868Nice one Joss. Looks great in M Sport trim
I hadn’t realised that the X1 and X2 petrol variants were on the scheme. I thought it was just the PHEV. I must have missed that. The 20i is now a 1.5 litre 3 cylinder engine, not the 2.0i 4 cylinder that was in our last X1, but if the 23i X1 comes on the scheme (which is the replacement for the car we had) then I shall be calling Motability about an early termination!

Portimao Blue looks fab on the X1 and X2. I think it’d be a toss up between that and Space Silver for me. I miss our BMW and will most likely move back to one at the first opportunity.

As much as I love the PUG 308 GT Premium, It will be sad to say good bye to it at hand over. It has been a great car to drive, and handling has been exclent. However the lure of the BMW X2 was won me back. Loads more room in the X2 than the PUG for a start. The boot is massive on the X2, which I like and remote tailgate will be welcome once again. Internally the build is lush and of good quality materials. The one thing that is missing though is the I drive. That is the only fault I can pick on the X2.

There (all hybrids) often portrayed as diesel like economy, yet fall flat on their promise at highway speeds. Round town they can pay off, especially PHEV, but thats where the benefits stop.
I went PHEV this time round as a trial based soley on taking my youngest (by far) daughter to and from school, which equates to 400 miles and on Octopus go, it costs just shy of £15, which works out less per month, than a weeks worth petrol in the previous car. Thankfully this offsets my nearly 400 mile month run. However, they are flawed outside that circle and I won’t be having another, plus my daughter will be soon 19 and finished school at end of this lease 🙂
August 7, 2025 at 12:25 pm #310889@joss It’s crazy that BMW have dispensed with the rotary controller on their lower range models. It was universally regarded as the best infotainment system on the market, partly because the controller was so much easier (and safer) than 100% touch-screen systems. On the positive side, they have added ‘Auto Hold’ to the latest X1 / X2. The absence of this was the only thing that still irritated me about our last X1, right up until the time we handed it back after 3 years.
@solent60 Funnily enough, I watched that YouTube review comparing EV, PHEV and ICE with the same car yesterday and found it very interesting, especially as I’ve had several BMW 5 Series over the years. I’m not a fan of Matt Watson, but this was a considered review and I agreed with the outcomes. Like @kezo we went PHEV this time and I’m not convinced that I’d get another, unless it was a car that I really wanted and the EV range was much better. Unlike @kezo most of my driving is on motorways and the electric range isn’t great in that scenario. Whereas Kezo gets around the claimed 38 EV miles, I tend to get closer to 30 miles and when the battery is depleted mpg is woeful.August 7, 2025 at 1:08 pm #310890August 7, 2025 at 1:48 pm #310891August 7, 2025 at 4:11 pm #310897
August 7, 2025 at 4:12 pm #310899She like this colour Joss, however it’s all extra cost I guess
August 7, 2025 at 10:02 pm #310928Not only had I missed the fact that a petrol X1 and X2 had joined the scheme and the PHEV had been removed, but I’d also missed the fact that the iX1 and iX2 had been removed. Given the pressure that manufacturers are under to shift EVs, I wonder if there’s a temporary supply issue with the iX1 and iX2 and the entry level petrol versions have been added as a temporary substitute, potentially to be removed once the EVs return? Just a wild guess.

Either way, I’m delighted for you Joss. I have moved away from BMWs a number of times (including at present) and am always glad to get back to them. Sadly, when we changed last year there was only the iX1 and iX2. We didn’t want an EV, but had to change the car to get a person hoist, so had to hand back the petrol X1 (that I enjoyed driving) for a Tucson PHEV (which I don’t) 😔

I disagree. I drive a Qashqai ePower and during the spring, summer and autumn seasons. My motorway average is around 50-60mpg. Yes I drive at around 60mph and just leave it on ProPilot. It gives a higher average MPG than my old Qashqai 1.5dci used too, on the same journeys.
I have ASD and thus have difficulty with social and understanding information, written and verbal. I process information in logical blocks, before I reply. Sometimes I'm right and sometimes I'm wrong.
I also have a corneal visual condition, which makes me visually impaired without daytime, or daytime bulbs, among other disabilities/conditions.August 8, 2025 at 3:08 pm #310959Oh well that’s off the list, popped to BM, Mrs aj don’t like the rear of the x2..
So I looked at the X1, I didn’t like all the plastic moulded bumper exaggeration..😖

Just goes to show the difference between different manufactures hybrid and PHEV systems, we are still happy with our Suzuki Across nearly 60 miles EV in the summer local driving plus 55 mpg on holiday with a depleted battery.
Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.
