I can confirm what BigDave said about damage caused by ones disability or aids as I prematurely wore out the bolsterers in my VW Golf years ago that would have had to be replaced. These were wore and damaged because of the way I had to lower myself into the car.
There was a case, I think in this forum, a few years ago of someone spilling paint on a seat and they lost their GCB on return of the car, if memory serves me right.
