    @gilders I have never heard of anyone being charged a cancellation fee – ever. It would be very difficult to enforce anyway, as we never enter into a contractually binding agreement with a dealership. The only legally binding agreement is between the customer and Motability Operations at the point that the customer accepts the car by entering the PIN.

    There have been one or two people over the years report on this forum that a dealership has played silly buggers about refunding any deposit after a cancelled order, but once they went back to the dealership and quoted the above, the money was refunded.

    All that being said, I think it would be very bad form to cancel once the dealer has received the car, unless it is not to the specification ordered.
