Part time AWD isn’t all its cut out to be imo, having to thumble through heavy laden munu’s to turn it on or change driving mode, whils’t in a skid isn’t the best thing to do. Then there’s the Tyres which play a bigger part but, many of the toy AWD cars (I have one) come fitted with summer tyres rendering them almost useless in these situations. Antilock breaks and driver control plays another part but, it isn’t always easy to control a car one in a skid.
Parttime AWD helps with understeer oversteer when exiting a bend for example, if you wan’t more from part time AWD you need proper tyres which are costly, If you wan’t the best 4×4 is the way to go but, even then accidents still happen.
